Who we are
Newport Beach Cabinet Pros connects Newport Beach homeowners with cabinet makers and installers who work in this city, on these houses. We are independent, we are not a manufacturer, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Newport Beach. We are the front door to a measured, written, itemised cabinet quote.
The service area is the city of Newport Beach, California, from the Santa Ana River at the Huntington Beach line across to Crystal Cove State Park. Within the city that includes Corona del Mar, Newport Coast, Balboa Island and the Balboa Peninsula, Lido Isle and the other harbour islands, West Newport, Newport Heights, Eastbluff, Big Canyon, Newport Center, San Joaquin Hills and Santa Ana Heights. The detail is on the service area page.
How this site is sourced
Every cost figure, code reference and test number on this site was read at its own source before it was published, and the source is named on the page where the figure appears. That is a deliberately higher bar than a trade site normally sets for itself, and the reason is simple: a homeowner cannot check an assertion, but they can check a citation.
The sources that do the most work here:
- KCMA A161.1-2022, the published Performance and Construction Standard for Kitchen and Vanity Cabinets, read from the full standard rather than from a summary. It is where every load, cycle and finish-test figure on this site comes from.
- The City of Newport Beach's own Building Division pages, for the adopted code editions, the ordinance number and date, the published permit exemptions and the inspection process.
- The California Green Building Standards Code, adopted here as Municipal Code chapter 15.11, for the formaldehyde limits that apply to the sheet goods in a cabinet.
- 40 CFR 745, the federal renovation rule, for the lead-safe requirements that apply to painted cabinetry in pre-1978 housing.
- SCAG's Pre-Certified Local Housing Data for the City of Newport Beach, pre-certified by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, for the housing age, tenure and vacancy figures.
- The USDA Forest Products Laboratory's Wood Handbook, chapter 13, for the equilibrium moisture content and dimensional change figures used in every species calculation.
- South Coast AQMD Rules 1136 and 1113, for the coating limits that apply to cabinetry finished in this district.
- The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, used as a published design reference for reach ranges and clearances, never presented as a requirement for a private home.
- Published cost pages from homeyou for Newport Beach specifically, Ronbow for California, a Los Angeles cabinet maker's 2026 guide for Los Angeles, and Thumbtack for national figures, each labelled by the geography it actually describes.
What this site deliberately does not claim
The omissions are as deliberate as the content, and listing them is part of being trustworthy.
What a cabinet quote should contain
Twelve things, and a quote that has all twelve can be compared with another quote that does the same. A quote that says "custom kitchen" and gives a number cannot be compared with anything.
- The linear footage, as measured by whoever is quoting, stated as a number
- Carcass material per cabinet, with the sink base called out explicitly
- Back construction: a full panel or a thin insert
- Drawer box construction and the slide load rating, as a number
- Hinge type and the count per door
- Door style and overlay: full, partial or inset
- Interior finish, including whether wall cabinet undersides are finished
- Finished ends and fillers, counted and priced, with a scribe allowance
- The finishing system, clear or pigmented, in house or subcontracted
- Installation as its own line, with tear-out stated separately
- The CSLB licence number and classification, so you can check it
- The deposit, which California caps at $1,000 or ten percent of the contract, whichever is less
The longer version of that list, including what the answers should sound like, is in the guide on choosing a cabinet maker in Newport Beach.

Why this site is built around one city
Newport Beach poses a specific set of cabinetry problems, and a site that covered the whole of Orange County would have to be vague about all of them.
The city is 55.04 percent water, with a semi-artificial harbour dredged in the early 1900s, eight artificial islands carrying private homes, roughly 9,000 boats and a waterfront on both the ocean and the bay. That makes hardware corrosion a design question rather than a footnote.
61.0 percent of its homes were built in 1979 or earlier, with the single largest decade being 1970 to 1979 at 22.3 percent of units. That puts the federal lead rule in the middle of most refacing, refinishing and tear-out work in this city.
48.3 percent of its vacant housing units are seasonal, against 33.5 percent across the SCAG region. Nearly half the empty homes here sit closed for months, tracking outdoor humidity rather than conditioned indoor air, which changes what you should specify on an inset door.
And the city publishes its adopted code editions precisely, by Ordinance No. 2025-23, adopted 4 October 2025, effective 1 January 2026, with each code at a named Municipal Code chapter. That is more than most cities publish, and it means a site about Newport Beach can be specific where a site about Orange County would have to hedge.
A note on how this site works
This site is form only. There is no phone number on it because there is no tenant contractor attached to it yet. Enquiries arrive through the form, in writing, and are matched to a cabinet maker or installer who works in the area and can do the work described.
When a contractor does take the site on, the change will be a real phone number and that contractor's real reviews, licence number and photographs of their own work. Until then, none of those things appear here, because inventing any of them would be deceptive and would poison the handover.
